Uruguay and Germany will have to shake off the disappointment of their respective World Cup semi-final defeats to the Netherlands and Spain and play each other in the 3rd place play-off in Port Elizabeth on Saturday night.
Uruguay have been the real surprise team of the 2010 World Cup. After winning a Group A which contained the hosts South Africa and 1998 winners France, people really sat up in notice as they topped the group without conceding. With forwards Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez the Uruguayans have been a consistent goal-threat, something that is often lacking with the South American teams other than Argentina and Brazil. Uruguay's achievement was made all the more impressive considering they were the very last team to qualify for the final having to come through a play-off against Costa Rica.
Joachim Low's young German side were very impressive throughout the tournament, with just a 1-0 defeat against Serbia their only blip before the semi-final defeat to Spain. Half a dozen of the Germany squad played for the Under-21 European Championship winning side from last summer. Players like Manuel Neuer, Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira have all impressed and the Germans are sure to be a force in Brazil in four years time.
There's a different betting aspect of Saturday's match as Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller and Diego Forlan are all sitting on four goals for the tournament and each are all still in with a realistic chance of winning the Golden Boot award. Klose is also one goal away from equalling Pele's record of World Cup goals.
