The 2010 World Cup is being played for the first time in Africa and as a result the tournament probably represents the best chance of an African team winning. There will be six teams representing Africa in the World Cup finals all of whom have previous World Cup experience. The likes of the Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Ghana and Nigeria all came through African qualification relatively easily whilst Algeria had to defeat Egypt in a play-off to secure their place in the competition. South Africa had no such worries having qualified automatically as World Cup hosts.

Ivory Coast head the betting and will be hoping for a good World Cup draw when it is made on the 4th December. There will plenty of participants from the Premier League with the likes of Didier Drogba of the Ivory Coast and Michael Essien who plays his football for Ghana. All these teams will be taking part in the African Cup Of Nations in early 2010 so there'll be some valuable form to take from that tournament.
