Salvador - Arena Fonte Nova
The Arena Fonte Nova is located in Salvador (Bahia) which is situated in the north-east of Brazil. The new, purpose-built stadium replaced the Estadio Fonte Nova and boasts a capacity of 55,000.
The stadium is scheduled to host six games at the World Cup and three matches at the upcoming Confederations Cup, including the group game between Brazil and Italy on June 22nd 2013.
Similarly to a couple of the other stadiums Salvador has experienced some high-profile problems. In May 2013 a section of the roof collapsed following heavy rain. This structural failure was a massive blow, especially considering that when the World Cup takes place in June the area will experience its heaviest precipitation of the year.
