The Estadio Beira-Rio (Riverside Stadium) is located in Porto Alegre beside the Guaiba River, making for a picturesque setting. It is currently undergoing an extensive redevelopment in order to be ready for the World Cup, but has suffered from a series of delays and financial issues meaning it won't be ready for use until the back end of 2013. Once completed it is expected to look visually compelling and will able to hold approximately 50,000 reinforcing its title as the largest stadium in south Brazil.
It is nicknamed "The Giant of Beira-Rio" and is set to host five matches at the tournament, including four group games and a round of 16 encounter.
