2014 World Cup - Quarter Finals
5th July - KO: 9pm BST -
Salvador

The Netherlands and Costa Rica clash for the first time in the quarter final of the 2014 World Cup on Saturday evening in Salvador. The Dutch qualified top of Group B having won all three of their games against Spain, Australia and Chile, before a fourth win against Mexico in the second round. That didn't tell the whole story however, with Mexico leading until just five minutes left, Holland scored two quick goals through Wesley Sneijder and a penalty by Klaas Van Huntelaar to reach the quarter finals.

Costa Rica are in the quarter finals of the World Cup for the first time in their history thanks to a penalty win over Greece in the second round. Surprise Group D winners ahead of Uruguay, Italy and England, Bryan Ruiz had given Costa Rica a one goal lead until the dying minutes of normal time before Greece equalised. With no goals scored in extra time, Keylor Navas saved the vital penalty to help put his team through to the quarter finals.

Louis Van Gaal's Dutch side are the odds on favourites to reach the semi finals.

Key Players

Arjen Robben (Holland) - Like him or loathe him, the Dutchman has two goals to his name in this year's World Cup and his theatrics helped win the deciding penalty against Mexico in the second round.

Keylor Navas (Costa Rica) - The Levante goalkeeper put in a man of the match display against Greece in the second round making a string of important saves even before his heroics in the penalty shootout win. There's every chance he will be a busy boy against the Dutch!
