Italy continue the defence of their World Cup against the outsiders of the group New Zealand, the Italians are the big favourites to take the win against the inexperienced New Zealanders. Italy are the top seeds in this group and will be expected to brush aside New Zealand at the Mbombela Stadium as they look to secure an early passage through to the last 16 of the tournament. The four time winners always produce the goods at the World Cup and few would bet against an Italian win in this one. After all four teams in this group drew their opening matches it is vital for Italy to get a result here.
New Zealand are one of the weakest teams at the World Cup but as they showed in their 1-1 draw with Slovakia, they will not give up without a fight. However, they may have found that they have bitten off more than they can chew with the Italians who are packed full of World Cup experience.
Italy v New Zealand Match Odds
This is without doubt one of the most one sided matches of the entire group phase of the tournament with the Italians dead certs to claim the three points. The defending champions rarely slip up against small teams and are unlikely to do so here against New Zealand, the underdogs would love to snatch a draw but that looks a long shot at best. Anyone wanting to back New Zealand to win the match will want their head examined before hand with massive odds on offer for brave/foolish punters.
Latest Team News
This match could well see the Italians book their spot in the last 16 depending on how their first match against Paraguay went, Marcelo Lippi will play his strongest possible squad here as he looks to make quick work of the minnows from New Zealand. There are no teams with as much experience as the Italians and that is sure to stand them in good stead for matches such as this, the starting line-up will be full of big names and will be available on match day.
New Zealand do not have a large pool of players to choose from and they will be dreading any injuries that are sure to occur during a major tournament. They will of course be up against it in this one but they will nevertheless be giving 100% as they look to cause the upset of the tournament. The starting eleven will need to be made of thick stuff in this one and we will be close to the New Zealand camp in the build up to this daunting task.
Live Score and Result
Italy will be looking to get on the score sheet early to calm any nerves there might be and punters will be able to follow the match through the World Cup Live Scores service. Each of the teams will just have one more match after this one as we start to approach the business end of the tournament with the knock-out stage on the horizon.
The final result will be very important to the outcome of Group F with the losing team struggling to make it to the last 16, Italy surely have too much here as they play one of the easier matches at the tournament and they will move a step closer to retaining the title they won in 2006.
