Germany play Serbia in one of the most hotly anticipated matches of the entire Group phase as Group D enters its second round of matches, this is one of the toughest groups in South Africa making this a crucial tie. There are no easy matches in Group D but the Germans made light of their 4-0 win over Australia on Sunday. Germany are the seeded team but Serbia had a great qualifying section and they go to South Africa dreaming of going along way into the tournament. This was tempered slightly by defeat to Ghana on Sunday so they'll be looking for all three points on Friday. This will be the first world Cup for Serbia under this name having previously competed as Yugoslavia before the country split.
Germany meanwhile are one of the best World Cup teams in the world as they always seem to manage to pull it out of the bag when it matters, they were semi-finalists in 2006 and will be looking to at least equal that performance.
Germany v Serbia Match Odds
Germany as punters would expect are the favourites to take the win and are odds-on to take the three points despite facing a strong opponent. Serbia meanwhile are a talented bunch and anyone wanting to back them will get some good looking odds, they look good value and will fancy their chances of causing an upset. They had no problem beating France in qualification and will fancy their chances against the Germans also, both sides may be happy for a point here and that looks the most attractive bet for us. The Serbs will also be keen to get points on the baord after their disappointing defeat to Ghana at the weekend.
Match Day Squads and Key Players
The starting line-ups for both of these teams will be vital if they want to take the win with Managers hoping their players have recovered from their opening matches in the Group. Germany have a strong looking squad that is made up mainly of top players from the Bundesliga with the likes of Klose and Schweinsteiger the key men in the squad. Those two are among many who Joachim Loew will be counting on for the Germans as they look to win the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
Serbia have most of their key players dotted around the major leagues in Europe and they will all need to be firing if they are to realise their potential that many are tipping them for. Nemanja Vidic of Man United is the glue that holds their defence together and he will need to be on form against the German attack if the Serbians are to claim the win.
Live Score and Result
The match will be the subject of great interest and the World Cup Live Scores will keep all the fans and punters across the match throughout the 90 minutes, this match could go either way with two strong teams and it should be an intersting score. All the major incidents will be fetaured including goal scorers and incidents when the final whistle is blown for this votal Group C match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Germany are the favourites here but we take Serbia to push them all the way in a match that is almost too close to call. It will be a tight encounter with two good sets of defenders and may be decided by the odd goal or two on the counter-attack when the players are getting tired.
