Free State Stadium
The Free State Stadium is situated in Bloemfontein and will have a capacity of 48,000 in time for the World Cup finals in the summer. The venue will play host to six world Cup matches in total with five of those coming in the group phase of the tournament and one in the 2nd Round of 16.
The stadium had a capacity of 38,000 and has hosted some big events in both the 1995 World Cup and the 1996 African Cup of Nations as well as some of the matches in the 2009 Confederations Cup as a warm-up for the main event. A second tier is being added to the West stand which will see the capacity increase as part of an expensive renovation programme.
