England will the subject of huge interest at the 2010 South Africa World Cup from both a fans point of view and of course from a betting point of view. England are likely to enter the tournament as one of the top teams in the betting market despite some poor recent performances in the World Cup as punters pour into the bookies to back them.
England have been on top form throughout the qualifying campaign winning their first seven games to all but secure their place in South Africa and new coach Fabio Capello seems to have brought the confidence back to the under performing Premier League stars.
England have drawn the United States in Group C of the World Cup and the odds and they will play each other on the 12th June 2010. The other Group C teams are Algeria and Slovakia.
England have of course only won the World Cup on one occasion in 1966 but since then they have struggled to reach the same heights. There best performance since has been a Semi-Final in 1990 when they lost to West Germany on penalties. The last World Cup in 2006 saw England lose on penalties once again to Portugal in the Quarter-Final and the fans and punters will be hoping they can go further in 2010.
England look to be in good from ahead of the World Cup having performed really well in their qualifying group. Their best performance was an excellent 4-1 win away in Croatia who are a difficult team to beat and the side appear to have kicked on from there. England booked their place in South Africa with another demolition of Croatia at Wembley with Steven Gerrard scoring twice in a brilliant 5-1 win over their nearest rivals. Capello will want to contiune winning ways in the build up to the tournament and carry on the momentum they have built up.
