Moses Mabhida Stadium
The Durban Stadium is a newly designed stadium that will play host to some of the major matches at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and it will have a capacity of 70,000 for the tournament. The design of the stadium includes a Grand Arch over the roof as a centre piece which is not unlike the magnificent Arch at the new Wembley Stadium in London.
Tourists will be able to a cable car up to the top of the 350m arch for some stunning views of Cape Town and was one of the ideas to make the stadium attractive to visitors once the tournament has come to an end. The idea is to leave a legacy after the World Cup and that will be done here with shops, restaurants and other sporting arenas that will all be situated nearby on site.
The stadium will host its first Match on Sunday June 13th with two Germany and Australia going head-to-head with a total of seven matches taking place at the venue. The stadiums most important night will be the 7th July when it will play host to the 2nd Semi-Final which will see the worlds eyes focused on Durban.
