Belgium v Russia Betting
2014 World Cup - Group H
22nd June - KO: 5pm BST -
Estadio do Maracana, Rio
The second round of games in Group H will perhaps be the pivotal ones with this match between Belgium and Russia at the Maracana one of the highlights of the 2014 World Cup. The Group betting suggests that these two sides are the favourites to progress through to the knock-out stages which should ensure that we enjoy a cracker of a game.
A second half double from Belgium was enough to come from behind to beat Algeria 201 in their first match whilst Russia could only draw 1-1 with South Korea. It's fair to say both sides were unconvincing in their opening games, but Belgium will know a draw keeps the Russians at arms length with one game to go, with neither team wanting to finish second and set up a likely last sixteen clash with Germany.
Belgium are the seeded team here given how they cruised through the qualification process and the betting suggest they are the favourites to claim the three points. The Belgians are packed full of top class talent but they not have it easy against a strong Russian tram. Fabio Capello has plenty of experience at this level and the former England coach will fancy his chances of casing an upset here. It is worth noting however that Russia have never beaten Belgium in three attempts, including when they lost 3-2 during the 2002 World Cup.
