Group D is one of the so-called 'groups of death' at this Summer's World Cup and two of the teams meet at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on the 19th June, Australia take on Ghana in a crucial tie as each Nation playing their second match. There are no easy games in this group with Serbia and Germany joining these two meaning every game will be absolutely vital. Ghana are generally considered as one of the stronger teams from Africa and have made it be known they are looking to make it through to the last 16. They made it through to the African Cup of Nations Final at the start of the year before losing to Egypt and will be looking to carry that form into the World Cup.
Australia are a vastly improved team over recent years and can count themselves unlucky to have been drawn in such a tough group, they are the underdogs in the group but should not be ruled out in any of their three matches.
Match Day Squads and Key Players
Both of these teams will need their big names to be playing well if they are to come through this tough looking group and to the last 16. Ghana have improved a great deal in the last five years and they now have players dotted all over Europe, they are a strong, powerful squad that are many punters dark horses to go deep into the tournament. However, they do have a huge squad so will be desperate to avoid any injuries to their key players for this match so we will be watching their camp with interest in the build up.
Australia have a similar squad in terms of strength in depth with several of their players also playing across the big leagues in Europe and they will need all their experience to take out the Africans. As and when the latest team news for the Aussies becomes available then we will have all the information for punters as we approach the showdown at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
