2014 World Cup - Semi Finals
9th July - KO: 9pm BST -
The second semi final in the 2014 World Cup will be played between Argentina and the Netherlands on Wednesday 9th July in Sao Paulo. Argentina are unbeaten in the competition so far but have yet to win a game by more than one goal. Three victories in Group F against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria saw the Argentines top the table and face Switzerland in the second round. An Angel Di Maria strike near the end of extra time was all that seperated the sides to set up a quarter final clash with Belgium. Gonzalo Higuain scored the only goal of the match to set up this semi final tie with Holland.
The Dutch are also unbeaten having won Group B courtesy of wins over Chile and Australia plus a 5-1 mauling of reigning champions Spain. However, they've made hard work of the knockout stages leaving it late to beat Mexico 2-1 in the second round and beating Costa Rica on penalties in the quarter finals.
The pair have met eight times before and in four World Cups. The only win for Argentina came in the 1978 World Cup final in Buenos Aires. The Dutch beat Argentina in the 1974 and 1998 finals and the pair drew 0-0 in the group stages of Germany 2006.
Argentina shade the betting and are favourites to reach the 2014 World Cup final.

Arjen Robben - Like Messi. the Dutch will be heavily dependant on Arjen Robben in the semi-final. A scorer twice in the competition so far and one of the successful penalty takers in the quarter final win over Costa Rica, the Bayern Munich winger is the Dutch most influential forward player.
Lionel Messi - After a quiet game by his standards in the quarter final win over Belgium, Lionel Messi will need to be on his A Game against Netherlands, especially with the dynamic Angel Di Maria likely to miss the rest of the tournament through injury.
