England's Group C opponents Algeria and Slovenia get their 2010 World Cup campaign underway in Polokwane on the 13th in what is likely to be a pivotal match for both sides. The Slovenians are making their second appearance in the World Cup having beaten Russia in a play-off to secure their place. Algeria will be playing in their third World Cup and will be able to draw upon their experience in the 2010 African Cup of Nations where they made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out by Egypt, the team they beat in a play-off to make it to the World Cup. That was a historical result for the Algerians who will head into this match as the underdogs, they managed to beat their nearest rivals Egypt under the most intense pressure meaning they should not be underestimated.
This match could be absolutely crucial for both teams if they have designs on qualifying from Group C, they are the perceived weaker teams in the group with tough games against England and the USA to come. Whichever team loses here might as well kiss their World Cup dreams goodbye while three points will give a team a vital boost ahead of tougher matches.

Latest Team News/Key Players
At this stage we are of course unaware of the two starting line-ups but we will have a foot in both camps in the lead up to the game to ensure that we bring the very latest team news for each side as we approach the game. The two Managers are Matjaz Kek for Slovenia and Rabah Saadane for Algeria and they will be announcing their World Cup squads in the weeks before the tournament. Once these are announced we will be able to start formulating a picture of the starting eleven's for each team.
Both sides have key players who will be expected to play if fit and on form and they will be needed if they are to claim the three points. Algeria will be looking to their key players like Nadir Belhadj and Majid Bougherra to perform while the likely stars for Slovenia will be Robert Koren and Milivoje Novakovic of Koln.
The match between Slovenia and Algeria at 2010 World Cup will be the first between the two nations, the Europeans are likely to go off favourites as they appear to have the bigger strength in depth on paper and came through a tougher qualification system.
Despite it being their first meeting there can be no greater pressure on both teams as they look to get their World Cup campaign's in Group C off to a positive start.
